01Our aim
We aim for this website to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, and we treat accessibility as part of the design, not a check at the end. If you have read our article on why accessibility matters, this is us holding ourselves to it.
02What we have done
- A “Skip to content” link, and headings and landmarks that describe each page.
- Links, buttons and menus designed to work with a keyboard, showing where focus is.
- Text alternatives for images that carry meaning; decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- Body text in dark grey or black on white or light grey backgrounds.
- Animations reduce or stop when your device asks for reduced motion.
- Layouts that adapt to small screens and to browser zoom.
03What may fall short
We have not yet had an independent audit. From our own checks, these parts may not fully meet the standard, and we are working on them:
- Some light grey labels and small print may have lower contrast than the guidelines ask for.
- Some carousels and scroll-driven animations can be harder to use with a screen reader.
- Content added later through our content management system may not always have full text alternatives.
- Headlines on the Live news page come from other publishers, so we cannot guarantee their accessibility.

06How we checked
This statement was prepared on 23 October 2026 from our own testing with a keyboard, browser zoom and automated checks. We will review it at least once a year, and whenever we change the website significantly.
