Stripe
Stripe is billing and pay flows as part of the interface, not a plugin on the side. We design the plan picker, the invoice, and the failed-card path.
What it is
Stripe is the payments company: cards, wallets, subscriptions, invoicing, Connect for marketplaces, Billing, Tax, and a dashboard finance actually opens. Shopify, Amazon (in parts of the ecosystem), Google, Lyft, and Instacart have all used Stripe to take money without becoming a bank.
Checkout, Elements, and the API are how a site takes a card. Radar is fraud. Atlas is incorporation. The brand is developer-first payments. The constraint is still PCI, webhooks, and the ugly states: failed card, 3-D Secure, refund.
What it does
Teams use Stripe to charge once, to bill monthly, to pay out connected accounts, and to show a customer portal. The payment form should look like the rest of the site. The webhook is the source of truth for 'paid', not the thank-you page.
We put pay in the path we designed. Accounts and keys are yours. We do not hide a checkout that looks like a third company.
Why we use it
Payments for SaaS and checkout, wired into the product.
Webhooks in the repo. The Stripe account is yours. We do not sit in the middle of the money. Plans you can explain. Receipts that look like the brand. Failed payments that do not look like a third product.
If you would not click pay on the prototype, we should not be writing the webhook yet.
